Chocolate Chip Bars
Ingredients
-
2/3 cup AP flour
-
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
2 tablespoons butter
-
2 ounces reduced fat cream cheese (1/4 C)
-
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
-
1/2 cup white sugar
-
1 large egg
-
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
-
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Method
-
1. Preheat oven to 375F. Lightly oil an 8x 12" baking pan or coat with nonstick cooking spray.
-
2. In a mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Cook, swirling the pan, until the butter turns a nutty brown, 30-60 seconds. Pur into a large mixing bowl. Add cream cheese, brown sugar and white sugar. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until smooth. Add egg and vanilla; beat until well incorporated. Add the reserved dry ingredients and chocolate chips and stir just until combined.
-
3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
